Artistic Expressions
The Alabama Branch of the International Dyslexia Association is calling for paintings, drawings, photographs, and sculpture that portray your expression of dyslexia and how it affects your life through the strengths and the challenges that exist from Alabama children, teens and adults. The contest is to raise awareness of dyslexia and its strength-related and challenge-related impacts, in coordination with Dyslexia Awareness Month, October. The winners’ artworks will be displayed on our website and at potential regional educational group meetings via a power point slideshow. All submissions will be through digital format.
Six prizes will be awarded. One participant from each age category will be awarded a $100 Best Buy Gift Card, and the first runner-up from each category will be awarded a $25 Best Buy Gift Card.
Categories:
Children in Grades: 3 to 7
Children in Grades: 8 to 12
Adults: 18 and older
Three judges will be selected from Alabama artists, parents of children with dyslexia, adults with dyslexia, and professionals who work with children with dyslexia. Winners will be notified by mail and email of the parent or if an adult, your listed email.
All submissions are winners because you will provide teachers, parents and professionals in the field a visual expression of the impact of dyslexia in your life.
Whatever your piece, it will provide a window into your thoughts related to dyslexia!
